Cape Fear Anglers Club dissolution
On July 14, 2026, the Cape Fear Anglers Board voted to dissolve the Cape Fear Anglers Club effective September 30, 2026. We have experienced a significant decline in membership and attendance over the past few years. Our membership has fallen by 45%, and our average meeting attendance has declined by 40%. This year 43% of former members did not renew their membership, and we have only gained 4 new members. We are disappointed in having to take this action however we do not believe our average meeting attendance makes for a healthy and sustainable club. Our society has changed and the younger generation get their information from social media rather than through joining social organizations – this includes anglers.
With our monthly meetings, frequent club outings and events, we are dedicated to for ourselves and future generations actively preserving the sport of angling for ourselves and future generations.
We focus on “passing it forward” by informing members and others of the abundant opportunities in the Cape Fear region to catch multiple species of quality trophy size fish and sharing of our coast’s natural resources with friends.
