01. Participate in Events

Our region is known for the quality of its fishing, and we can help you make the most of this diverse, bountiful resource. Whether you’re an experienced fisher or looking to improve your skills, knowledge of our waters and the fellowship of friendly, like-minded people, joining the Cape Fear Anglers’ Club can make your outings less about simply fishing, and more about “catching.”

The club welcomes everyone. Sampling one of our monthly meetings will show you the clear value of membership. Please join us.

03. Derbies and Leaderboards

Among the broader angler community, there’s a lot of interest in fishing competition. The club and its members are no exception. The Cape Fear Anglers Club holds members-only derbies and maintains season-long leaderboards for the most popular species.

While the competition is serious, it is always friendly. Bragging is allowed; tall tales are tolerated (barely).  Prizes are awarded to top contenders.

02. Meet Other Anglers

At Cape Fear Anglers’ Club monthly meetings, the agenda includes expert presentations by charter captains, knowledgeable members, regulatory officials and others. Updates are also given on club competitions such as derbies and species leaderboards. And members are encouraged to share their fishing “stories” or check out gear brought in for the monthly swap portion.

The meetings include plenty of networking, with a broad spectrum of those who ply our fertile waters in search of the big one. Some members are only interested in inshore, surf, near shore, freshwater or offshore fishing. And some–maybe most members–are interested in all of them.

04. Educational Meetings

Club leadership identifies qualified speakers for the monthly meeting. Presenters provide all sorts of useful information, such as species targeting tips, baits and tackle recommendations.

The benefit from topic experts’ years of fishing knowledge, often decades, and specific to our area, is priceless. It’s information that’s tough to find otherwise. Some speakers have addressed topics including: Carolina rig fishing, freeing a stuck anchor, optimal use of fishing electronics, regulatory changes and outboard maintenance tips

And don’t forget to bring your knowledge, we have lots of smart, experienced members, but we aren’t know-it-alls.
