If fresh shrimp is king, salted shrimp is the prince that never dies.
Why it works:
- Tough as boot leather – stays on the hook through wave slap, bait-stealers, and long casts
- Stinks in a good way – throws off a scent trail redfish, black drum, whiting, and croaker can’t ignore
- Perfect for rough water – when the water is cloudy, smell beats looks every time
Use fresh peeled shrimp soaked in Kosher salt over night
- Cut shrimp in half or thirds – smaller piece = better hook exposure
- Fish it on the bottom with a high-low rig
- Pair with a Fishbites strip for a one-two punch: scent + durability
Pro move:
- Salted shrimp shines after a front, in dirty water, or when fresh bait keeps flying off the hook
- When everyone else is rebaiting every cast – you’re still fishing
